Viognier 2009 MandraRossa
Product Description
The vineyards are planted at an altitude of 200 -400 meters a.s.l. and planted with 4500 vines/ha, producing a maximum yield of 80 quintals/ha which is all harvested manually. The grapes are picked at optimum ripeness and then transported as quickly as possible to the winery where they are destemmed and crushed before being chilled down to 8°C and left to cold settle overnight. The chilled must is then gently pressed into steel tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel temperature controlled tanks at between 15 - 18°C. The resulting wine is then matured in stainless steel until it is ready for bottling. There is no oak used in making this wine and malo-lactic fermentation is discouraged in order to pRéserve the natural acidity from the grapes.
